HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL
Tuesday night the Crusaders came through a tough pre-playoff test with flying colors. First they blitzed the Nads early and held them off late for a 55-44 victory. The Crusaders opened up a 13-0 lead in the first, stretching the lead to 19 points at the half. The Nads wittled it to 10, but Z hit two 3s and 6 straight free throws to seal the deal. Z finished with 28 pts. (11 for 14 on free throws). Brother L had 5 assists to go with 7 pts., while M contributed 10 pts and 6 rebs.
An hour later, they showed no fatigue and no mercy to Rob’s Team, winning 61-32. In a game that was never close, G dominated with 28 pts, 13 rebs., and 3 steals. Z contributed 14 pts., 7 rebs. And 4 assists, while P joined the double-digit club with 12 pts. The Crusaders, who will have the top seed in the playoffs, hope to finish undefeated – one more game Thursday night! Late update….Last Night the Crusaders Won!!! Finished the Season UNDEFEATED.

The Saints had a tough loss to one of the league’s top seeds, the CAVS. Led by team captain J, all players on the roster scored. O had 13 points, including 3 three-pointers. J provided superb defense against a physically superior team, playing four periods with a “never say quit” attitude. The Saints battled hard throughout the game, but ultimately went down 61 to 28. The Saints finished their regular season last night.

CHARITY OPPORTUNITIES

Catholic Charities Benefit - St. Patrick’s Day Celebration on March 14th. See Flyer.

LENTEN CHARITY DRIVE – Enclosed in today’s blue envelope are envelopes marked with the Society of St. Vincent de Paul logo. Mrs. F presented a plan to the students at assembly on Tuesday for our annual Student Lenten Charity Drive. This year we will all save our quarters, dimes or dollars in these envelopes (or bring your donations to the bucket at school, or collect your own family bucket.) After reminding us about the generosity of St. Vincent de Paul, Mrs. F gave us all some practical suggestions for how to come up with some charity money, like just tossing in some change periodically, or, (my favorite) put in that money that you would have spent on something else, like a soda pop when out to dinner. Order water and put that $1, $2 or ??? into the charity envelope.

High School Service Hours: VOLUNTEER NEEDED – Mary Health of the Sick Home in Newbury Park. High school student needed on Saturdays and Sundays from approximately 10:30 AM to Noon.

Ora Pro Nobis:
For AR, friend of the L families, who is battling a life-threatening bacterial infection. He is forty and has two young boys. For CL. For RT and JM. For an end to abortion and FOCA. For the continued grace of generous benefactors. We also commend Miss B’s sister, S, to our prayers. We pray for all those who serve our country to protect our freedom. We also thank God for all priests and religious. We pray for one another.
