Dear Families:
Now that we have gotten to the other side of the election, we thank God for the victory for Prop 8, and ask him for continued help as we redouble our efforts to save the unborn. Also, reminding ourselves that we are, finally, citizens of the City of God, we still must do our best to live in this world and bring others to Christ and eternal beatitude. Therefore, we now commit ourselves to continued and deeper prayer for our new president, our government, and for all the laws that favor the unborn and their right to life.
Fr. Frank Pavone, president of Priest for Life, sent out this note on Wednesday, reminding us of the political pendulum, and the abiding hope we should all embrace.
Political races are always a swinging of the pendulum. As soon as you win, you begin to
lose, and as soon as you lose, you begin the ascent again to winning. In the next two
election cycles (2010 and 2012) the pro-life movement will make up for political ground
lost in this one.It is all right to be disappointed at the end of an election season, but one must never
walk away. Amidst disappointment is abiding hope in America, where everything remains
possible, and where a new chapter of the pro-life movement has just begun. The efforts
that were made, and the sacrifices endured in this election season made a difference, and
we will build on that difference to see another day when the work and the ballots of
pro-life people will dismantle the Culture of Death. We will keep marching toward that
pro-life America we seek, and won’t stop until we get there.
Finally, all this reminds us of the primary importance of our home and our Faith. We need to stick to these, develop our Faith and our minds to withstand false rhetoric by spreading the truth to others. We find the need for a classical liberal arts education all the more important - to help develop true liberty in our children, the liberty to follow the True, the Good and the Beautiful. Fr. Pavone made another comment about politics being “local.” This is why we put so much time and effort into our school - so we can, together, create citizens worthy to be statesmen, and citizens prepared to be Saints.
Tomorrow night, we will celebrate our local efforts at developing a good and just society - Saint Augustine Academy. And hopefully, we will have good news to report about another vote that happened this week - election to the 2008 National Catholic High School Honor Roll.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
REMINDER - TUESDAY NO SCHOOL. This day honors our veterans who give us our freedom. It also celebrates our own students for their stunning and amazing performance in this year’s Jog-A-Thon. I still cannot believe their success. I have been gushing about their great efforts to our benefactors - they seem quite impressed.

True/False: The day after the election, regardless of who wins, the greatest
agent for social change in America will still be winning the hearts and
minds of men and women through the gospel, not legislation.
